Food Stamp Program

The Food Stamp Program was authorized by Congress to alleviate hunger and malnutrition by diet through normal channels of trade by increasing food purchasing power for all eligible households who apply for participation. The Department of Health and Human Services is designated as the State agency responsible for the supervision of the Program. The boards of county commissioners through the county department social services are responsible for the administration and operation of the program.  Eligibility requirements are based on federal guidelines and the value of coupons received is determined by the net income and household size.

Commodity Food Distribution Program

This programs distributes USDA donated commodity food to low income households on a quarterly basis. Distribution is open to all households receiving Food Stamps.  Also, non-Food Stamp households may apply and if income eligible receive the food.  Distribution is held on a first-come, first-serve basis on the first floor of the Community Services Building.
